TODAY

6 p.m. — Cruise Night takes place in downtown Brandon on Rosser Avenue between Sixth Street and 13th Street from 6 to 9 p.m. People wishing to show their vehicles are encouraged to enter the event at the intersection of Rosser Avenue and 13th Street. All vehicles are welcome. Free to participants and spectators. Presented by Brandon & Area Car Enthusiasts (BACE), Kelleher Ford, Cal Jackson of Integral Realty and Off The Wall Signs.

6:30 p.m. — The City of Brandon presents Open Mic Night on the Fusion Credit Union Stage at the Riverbank Discovery Centre from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This event will take place every second Thursday until Aug. 28. Dallas Hulley from Brandon Open Mic will be your host.

7 p.m. — Entertainment begins again this summer every Thursday on the Jubilee Stage at Victoria Park (Seventh Avenue and Seymour Street West) in Virden. Featured today: Three’s Company. In case of rain, the event will be moved to The Legion Hall at 540 Eighth Ave. South.

FRIDAY

9 a.m. — The Brandon Farmers’ Market takes place every Friday at The Town Centre (800 Rosser Ave.), with seasonal produce, baking, jams and jellies, pickling, crafts and more until 4 p.m. This farmers’ market runs year-round.

5 p.m. — Carberry Ag Society presents the annual fair and races. Three days of chuckwagon and chariot races, 4-H beef show, heavy horse show, children’s entertainment, cornhole tournament, beer gardens, bingo and much more.

5:30 p.m. — Join us as we celebrate our 55th season at the Kick Off to Summer dinner and dance at Sporty’s in Onanole at 5:30 p.m. Live music by Lunch Money, great food, cash bar and 50/50 raffle. Tickets are $45 and can be purchased at WCA or Sporty’s. This is a fundraiser for Wasagaming Community Arts Programming and Exhibitions.

SATURDAY

8 a.m. — Carberry Ag Society annual fair and races continues. Three days of chuckwagon and chariot races, 4-H beef show, heavy horse show, children’s entertainment, cornhole tournament, beer gardens, bingo and much more. Gates open at 8 a.m. today for a pancake breakfast.

9 a.m. — The Riverbank Discovery Centre Farmers Market takes place every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 525 Conservation Dr. until Sept. 27. Come join us under the trees for an amazing variety of vendors this summer.

10 a.m. — Come and join us for Rollin’ Into Rivers weekend. Activities include parade, barbecue, beer gardens, car show, old fashioned turkey shoot, entertainment by New Highway 25 Repaved and fireworks.

10 a.m. — In collaboration with Prairie Comics Festival and the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba, we are bringing indie comics to Brandon with the first-ever BranZine Fest at the AGSM from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For a $2 entry fee you can enjoy a full day of our exhibitor marketplace featuring Prairie-based cartoonists, comic makers, graphic novelists, zine creators, publishers and print artists. Enjoy the artist market or take in panels and workshops in comic making throughout the day. For more information, follow Prairie Comics Festival online.

4 p.m. — The Killarney Community Events Committee presents a Kickoff to Summer with a performance by Jade Eagleson at the Killarney Ag grounds (50 Water Ave.) at 4 p.m. with special guest Steven Lee Olsen. Beer gardens, food trucks and supporting band performance by Dreams and Rumours and Mother Groove. Bring your own lawn chair.

SUNDAY

8 a.m. — Carberry Ag Society presents the annual fair and races. Carberry Splash Park Breakfast, Open Beef Show, Chariot Races and more.

10 a.m. — Come and join us for Rollin’ Into Rivers weekend. Tractor Trek parade from Redferns to Clacks Museum followed by barbecue, sandcastle contest, baseball and supper on a bun. And the Rivers Train Restoration Committee presents CN’s “Little Obie,” a miniature scale model of a CN locomotive, a flat deck car and a caboose that will be offering rides.

1 p.m. — The fourth annual Brandon & Area Car Enthusiasts (BACE) Collector Car Appreciation Day takes place on Princess Avenue from 10th to 13th streets from 1-4 p.m. Open to all special interest vehicles. Food and beverages. Road Rebels Poker Derby is back and registration is on Princess Avenue in front of Section 6 Brewing at 10 a.m. with derby starting at 10:30 a.m.

MONDAY

10 a.m. — Join us for line dancing at Seniors for Seniors (311 Park Ave. East). Level 1: easy beginner, no experience, Mondays from 10 to 11:30 a.m. or 6 to 7 p.m.; Level 2: advanced, some experience is recommended, understanding of basic steps and terminology, Mondays or Wednesdays from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Drop-in classes or punch cards can be purchased. 6:30 p.m. — UCT Bingo takes place every Monday at 205 College Ave. Doors open at 4 p.m., with early-bird start at 6:30 p.m. and regular games at 7:10 p.m. Canteen available. Proceeds stay in Brandon for needs in the community.

TUESDAY

11:45 a.m. — The Rotary Club of Brandon #1344 meets regularly the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at Canad Inns Brandon. For more information, contact Don at 204-729-7188.

6:30 p.m. — The City of Brandon Parks and Recreation Services hosts Music in the Park in Princess Park on Tuesdays at 6:30 p.m. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and good vibes and enjoy an incredible lineup of local talent all summer long. No admission fee. Tonight features Wheat City Jug Band and Standin’ Pat.

WEDNESDAY

2 p.m. — Celebrate the vibrant community of Brandon at the Downtown Summer Market, organized by Brandon Downtown BIZ. This event takes place every Wednesday from July until September, from 2 to 7 p.m. on Rosser Avenue. Local vendors, live entertainment and family-friendly activities.

5:30 p.m. — Join the City of Brandon Parks and Recreation for youth beach volleyball every Wednesday at Kin Park (1651 Third St.) until Aug. 13, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. For ages 9 to 12 years. Daly House Museum (122 18th St., Brandon) — Built in 1882, original home of Brandon’s first mayor, Thomas Mayne Daly. Artifacts include a collection of late 19th-century and early 20th-century furnishings, First World War memorabilia. Hours: Tuesday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 5 p.m. (July and August). Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first since 1907. The AGSM boasts two exhibition spaces, an art school and gift shop that supports more than 70 local Manitoba artists. Coming to the Main Gallery is “Through my window, there is a view,” with artist Opeyemi Olukotun. In the Kayes Community Gallery is “Attached” with Carberry-based artist Clemente Villamayor (aka Tengnamoe) showing until July 12. Hours: Tuesday to Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.; Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m.; Saturday, noon to 5 p.m.; closed Sunday and Monday. There is no admission fee to visit the galleries. Brandon General Museum and Archives (19 Ninth St., Unit 101) — Attractions include the Brandon History Hall, Manitoba Telephone History, the BJ Hales Natural History Collection and rotating exhibits celebrating Brandon’s roots. Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (CATPM) (Brandon Municipal Airport, Highway 10, 1.6 kilometres north of Brandon) — Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. Summer hours for the museum are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Our gallery has new interpretive displays explaining the CATP. Visitors will be invited to travel back to the 1940s while touring a Second World War-vintage hangar serving as a display for aircraft, vehicles and hundreds of artifacts from that era. RCAF members who lost their lives during the Second World War are honoured on the museum’s RCAF Second World War Memorial Wall. Royal Canadian Artillery Museum (Building N-118 Patricia Rd., CFB Shilo) — We opened our new temporary exhibit, marking the 110th anniversary of the start of the First World War. The main features of the exhibit include a trench wall, First World War artillery and two machine-gun pits. Open 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday to Friday. Wasagaming Community Arts (110 Wasagaming Dr.) — We are pleased to announce the opening of our second exhibition of the 2025 season. Exhibition 2 runs from Friday to July 23 and features the works of Aryn Robidoux, Anne-Marie Syslak, Louise Renee, Elaine Rawlings and Sara Bulloch. Opening reception on Saturday at 7 p.m.

Killarney’s Heritage Home for the Arts (44 Water Ave., Killarney) — Killarney Turtle Mountain Arts Council’s gallery is in the Heritage Home for the Arts. Gallery hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 1 to 4 p.m.; closed all statutory holidays. Special tours can be arranged by calling 204-554-0023. July 10 — City of Brandon Parks and Recreation presents Kates Outlaw with Brad Johnson & The Talent at the Fusion Credit Union Stage at the Riverbank Discovery Centre. As members of the Manitoba Country Music Association, Manitoba Music and Indigenous Music Manitoba, Kates Outlaw is a four-piece country/rock band. Show starts at 6:30 p.m. Free admission.

July 10 — The Women’s Resource Centre is hosting their fourth annual barbecue fundraiser at Stanley Park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. $5 for a hotdog, chips and a drink or $10 pay-it-forward option — purchase your lunch plus a lunch for a community member in need. Cash only.

July 10-12 — The 2025 All Canada Sheep Classic will take place at the Keystone Centre. This event is a Canadian sheep sector’s highlight, attracting consignors and visitors from across the country. July 11-13 — Gilbert Plains/Grandview Agricultural Society Fair and Races featuring horse shows, parade, petting zoo, kids zone, beer gardens, bingo, trade shows, slo-pitch, chuckwagon and chariot races and live entertainment.
