RICHMOUND – RCMP say a man has been charged with assaulting two police officers in a southwestern Saskatchewan village where so-called followers of the “Queen of Canada” have set up a compound.
Mounties say 61-year-old Ricky Manz has also been charged with assault, resisting arrest and uttering threats in Richmond, 440 kilometres west of Regina near the Alberta boundary.
Manz is the owner of the former village school, which has housed Romana Didulo’s “Kingdom of Canada” group for nearly two years.
He is scheduled to make a court appearance Sept. 18.
Didulo calls herself the “Queen of Canada” promoting various conspiracy theories, and her followers have disrupted local residents.
Earlier this month, the village office closed its doors to the public outside pre-arranged appointments, citing harassment and intimidation towards staff.
