The 2025 Summer Multicultural Festival, scheduled to take place today at the Riverbank Discovery Centre, has been cancelled.

In a statement posted on social media, the organizing team said pavilion leaders had collectively decided to “pause this year’s summer event,” adding that the decision would allow everyone involved to shift focus toward preparing for a “memorable” winter festival slated for February 2026.

“A special fall event is also in the works to keep the celebration going,” the post added. “Thank you for your continued support — we’re excited for what’s ahead!”

While the reason for the pause was not explicitly stated, organizers hinted at a strategic regrouping to ensure future events exceed expectations.

A board member, who asked not be named, told the Sun that the organizers decided to shift the event to fall to allow the new executive, which took over a few weeks ago, to have enough time to plan a “more impactful” event.

The Summer Multicultural Festival has taken place for the last two years, drawing hundreds of attendees each year. Its winter counterpart, held indoors, has grown in popularity in recent years, offering an immersive showcase of cultural traditions from around the world.
