MONTRÉAL – The Montreal offices of Quebecor media properties TVA and Journal de Montréal were vandalized on Thursday evening.
Police say the company’s building on Frontenac Street was broken into around 10 p.m.
The glass front doors were smashed and paint was thrown at the building housing TVA’s studios and the operations of the Journal, a daily tabloid newspaper.
Police say Quebecor media employees were in the building at the time of the incident, but no one was injured.
Police questioned witnesses and analyzed surveillance tapes, but investigators were still trying to figure out how many suspects to look for.
Quebec Culture Minister Mathieu Lacombe said on X that the vandalism was unacceptable, adding that freedom of the press is a fundamental value of society.
