On July 28, Yellowhead RCMP were dispatched to a report of a possible shooting at a residence in Keeseekoowenin First Nation.
Police found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds, police said in a press news release after the shooting.
Officers and emergency medical services performed CPR on the 33-year-old woman, who was later identified by family members as Bone. She had serious injuries, and despite efforts to save her, she was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene, police reported.
A 26-year-old man was treated at the scene before STARS transported him to a hospital in serious condition, police said.
He was later released.
Officers determined the shooting to be a targeted attack and said there is no danger or threat to the public.
Bone’s family told the Sun they believed there were multiple firearms involved, due to the number of gunshots.
They said roughly 40 bullets were fired at the home.
Yellowhead RCMP and Manitoba RCMP Major Crime Services continue to investigate to find other suspects and encourage anyone with information to call the Wasagaming RCMP detachment at 204-848-2659, Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-222-8477 or submit a tip online at www.manitobacrimestoppers.com.
