Manitoba’s male lacrosse squad couldn’t have asked for a better start at the Canada Games after it defeated New Brunswick – a club it hadn’t beaten in three years — in a dominant 7-4 win in St. John’s, N.L., on Tuesday.
Brandon’s Vaughn McLeod led Team Toba with one goal and two assists in the game, while Cash Zdan also got on the board as well, registering one goal.
Manitoba will look to carry its hot start over to today, when it faces Saskatchewan and the hosts, Newfoundland and Labrador.
Team Manitoba’s female volleyball club, which includes Brandon’s Jersey Hansen-Young, also came out of the gate rolling after it blanked New Brunswick three sets to nothing on Tuesday.
Team Toba’s next match will be today against Quebec.
