A Brandon K-8 school went into a precautionary lockdown on Wednesday because of a physical altercation between two men near the school.
Brandon Police Service notified Kirkcaldy Heights School administrators at around noon about an incident in the area that required police response.
Police directed the school to go into lockdown as a precaution, and students and staff were sent inside while police dealt with the situation, BPS said in a news release.

The incident started when a male pedestrian yelled profanities at a man and woman travelling in a vehicle, police said.
The vehicle stopped and the two men got into a physical altercation.
The woman told police the pedestrian had a machete and used it on the other man, BPS said in an email to the Sun.
However, police said they didn’t find a weapon on the suspect or at the scene, despite using aerial drone surveillance of nearby rooftops and a police dog to search the area.
The altercation didn’t happen on the school’s property but “near” the school, BPS said.
Police arrested an 18-year-old man on Patterson Crescent and took him into custody. He was scheduled to appear in court on Thursday morning.
BPS said they do not believe the teen and the couple were known to each other.
The victim declined any medical assistance since the injuries were not substantial, police said.
The teen faces charges of assault with a weapon, possession of a weapon and failure to comply with a release order by possessing a weapon.
Within six minutes of police informing the school of the situation, police advised the Brandon School Division that the matter was resolved and the school could resume as normal.
“Brandon Police Service and Brandon School Division continue to work collaboratively to maximize the safety and security of Brandon schools,” BPS said in the release.
