MAN ASSAULTED DOWNTOWN WITH A ROCK
Brandon Police Service arrested a man early Wednesday morning after he allegedly assaulted another man with a rock.
The assault occurred at a business in the first block of 10th Street on Sept. 8. Surveillance showed that a man hit the 45-year-old victim several times in the back of the head with a rock and kicked him, BPS told the Sun in an email.

Police identified the suspect, but the victim initially declined pressing charges, BPS said in a news release Wednesday.
The victim reached out to police at around 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday to provide a statement and said he wanted to proceed with the charges, police said.
Officers arrested a 43-year-old man who was walking in the 1100 block of Rosser Avenue at around 1:45 a.m. on Wednesday.
He was charged with assault with a weapon and held in BPS cells for his scheduled court appearance on Wednesday.
WOMAN CHARGED WITH YOUTH ASSAULT
Brandon Police Service arrested a woman after she allegedly assaulted a youth on Saturday.
Police were dispatched to the back lane of the 400 block of 10th Street after a bystander reported a physical altercation.
When officers arrived, they found a 17-year-old boy who had been punched and kicked, BPS said in a news release Wednesday.
The boy initially asked for medical attention, but later declined it and chose not to give a statement to police or pursue charges, police said.
Police found and identified an 18-year-old woman nearby who matched the caller’s description of the suspect, BPS said.
The boy later gave a statement to police, which led them to find the woman again later that night, police said. They arrested and charged her with assault.
She was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in November.
SHED FIRE ON FOURTH STREET
Officials are investigating a fire that fully engulfed a shed early Wednesday morning.
First responders were dispatched to a fire behind a residence on the 200 block of Fourth Street just before 5 a.m.
The homeowners had been allowing someone to stay in the shed, Brandon Police Service said in a news release Wednesday.
The homeowners woke up after their dogs started barking, and believed they may have heard somebody near the side of their home shortly before they found their shed engulfed in flames, police said.
There were no reported injuries to people or animals.
Police are reviewing surveillance footage of the area, and the fire remains under investigation.
