Manitoba Hydro is planning to cut power to 177 homes in and around Carroll on Sunday as it repairs poles damaged earlier this year.

The outage is planned for between 9:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. and will affect customers east of Souris, including Carroll and Hayfield.

“We need to replace a two-pole structure that was damaged in a spring storm,” Manitoba Hydro spokesperson Amy-Jean MacLean said in an email. “At the time, we repaired the equipment to hold until milder fall weather when we could take a longer outage with less impact on air conditioning or heating.”

MacLean said an outage is necessary for work to happen safely, and that crews will work as quickly as possible.

The Municipality of Souris-Glenwood said on Facebook that the outage will impact the Hayfield well “for any residents who may want to access bulk water.”

The Hayfield well is located near the border of Souris-Glenwood and the Municipality of Oakland-Wawanesa. Both municipalities said Manitoba Hydro would know how the well will be affected. Manitoba Hydro deferred to the municipality.
