• 60 YEARS AGO — Eden Gridders ran their unbeaten streak in the Beautiful Plains High School Football League to three games as they battled to a 6-6 draw with Neepawa. Fullback Roman Novak hauled in a short pass then outdistanced a pair of defenders for Eden’s lone touchdown.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Richard Scott covered the one-mile course in 1:18.55 to pace a field of 13 entrants in the Wheat City Sports Car Club’s hill climb near Margaret. Scott, in a VW Dasher, edged runner-up Kent Wells in his Mini-Cooper S by about four-tenths of a second.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Pat Ferris of Brandon won the women’s lightweight title at the Western Canadian Bodybuilding championships.
• 30 YEARS AGO — The Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings settled on Jason Skilnick as their backup goaltender.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Mike McEwen scored two in an extra end to defeat Brian Fowler 11-9 in a Brandon Sun men’s SuperLeague of Curling make-up game at the Wheat City Curling Club.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Jasmine Ramsay led the visiting Vincent Massey junior varsity girls with four kills and three aces as the Vikings beat the Crocus Plainsmen 3-0 in the Westman High School Volleyball League.
