• VOLLEYBALL — Vincent Massey at Crocus Plains in girls’ action, 6 p.m. (JV) and 7:30 p.m. (varsity)
IN LOCAL HISTORY
• 60 YEARS AGO — Experience paid off for Eddie Dorohoy’s Whites at the arena as they drubbed the rookie-laden Golds 8-5 in the Brandon Wheat Kings’ annual intrasquad game. The Whites’ big line of Swede Juha Widing, Bill Fairbairn and Erv Ziemer, all veterans of the club, set the pace as they collected four goals.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Jack Olynick, a Dauphin native, was hired as the golf course superintendent at the city-owned Brandon Golf and Country Club.
• 40 YEARS AGO — The Western Hockey League’s Brandon Wheat Kings traded 20-year-old defenceman Bob Oberrauch to the Kamloops Blazers. In return, the Wheat Kings acquired the rights to 17-year-old left winger Scott Turnbull of Winnipeg.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Lacey Ewasiuk registered 11 kills and four stuff blocks to lead the Crocus Plainsmen to a 15-12, 15-7, 15-12 victory over the host Neelin Spartans in a Brandon High School Volleyball League varsity girls’ match.
• 20 YEARS AGO — The first-year Brandon University Bobcats men’s volleyball team earned their first match victories against university competition by sweeping the University of Regina Cougars 3-0 (25-14, 26-24, 25-15) in the third-place game of the Canada Inns Invitational men’s volleyball tournament at the BU gymnasium.
• 10 YEARS AGO — The Crocus Plainsmen allowed a late touchdown, then threw a pick-six on their next series late in the fourth quarter as they fell 29-21 to the host West Kildonan Wolverines in the Winnipeg High School Football League. Reilly Keele ran 19 times for 89 yards and a touchdown for the Plainsmen (1-3) in their Kas Vidruk (AA) Division game.
