BRANDON UNIVERSITY
Brandon University will be the destination for the Take Back the Night March on Thursday. The event will begin at Princess Park at 6 p.m. and end at the Mingling Area in the Knowles-Douglas Students’ Union Centre.
An opening event for the art exhibition “Shift/Work: Portraits of Precarity” will take place on Thursday at 7 p.m., in the Glen P. Sutherland Gallery of Art. Featuring layered paintings, three-dimensional elements, sound collage and drawings, the exhibition explores the lived experiences of people experiencing precarious employment. Artist Lisa Wood and artist research assistants Renata Truelove, Michael Vachon and Dhairya Vaidya will give an exhibition walkthrough at the beginning of the event.

Masoud Goharrokhi of the University of Manitoba will discuss the past, present and future of Netley Marsh and its importance to Lake Winnipeg in the Science Seminar Series on Friday at 2:30 p.m. The talk will take place in Room 4-47 of the Brodie building, and will also be available online. The Bobcats men’s volleyball team is in Puerto Rico this week representing Canada at the NORCECA Final Six championship. The Bobcats earned the right to form the Canadian entry by winning the U SPORTS national championship this spring. The Final Six begins today and runs until Sunday. Meanwhile the BU soccer teams will host Université de Saint-Boniface on Sunday at Cougars Field. The women’s match starts at 1 p.m., with the men following at 3:15.
Brandon University will be closed on Oct. 13 for Thanksgiving. The Healthy Living Centre will be open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Volunteer Manitoba will be on campus on Wednesday for a volunteer recruitment fair. They will be set up in the ACSA Event Space at the Victoria Campus from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
