• 60 YEARS AGO — The Brandon College Caps levelled the Notre Dame Hounds to post a 31-6 victory in the college annual homecoming game. Larrie Pilling carried the ball six times for 101 yards to spearhead the Cap attack.

• 50 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings, behind the six-point performances of rookie Billy Derlago and sophomore defenceman Kelvin Melnyk, pounded out a 9-2 victory over the Flin Flon Bombers in a game that gave them their first points of the WCHL season.

• 40 YEARS AGO — Daryl Beswitherick scored six touchdowns, booted three con- verts and added a pair of two-point conversions as the MacGregor Mustangs downed Boissevain Broncos 64-14 in a Rural Manitoba High School A Football game.

• 20 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Stingers are taking a one-year leave of absence from the SouthWest Senior Hockey League, team president Bernie Meek announced.
