Manitoba earned its second WHL Cup championship on Sunday after they defeated British Columbia 6-1 at the Marchant Crane Centrium in Red Deer on Sunday.

Prince Albert Raiders prospect Athens Shingoose of Waywayseecappo and Brandonite Talon Scinocca (Penticton Vees) both had a goal and an assist. Crewe Schimnowski had a pair of goals for Manitoba, which also included Brandon’s Reid Nicol and Virden’s Jake Beaty.

In the semifinal on Saturday, Manitoba beat Saskatchewan 4-1, with Scinocca earning a goal and an assist.

In the round-robin, Manitoba beat Alberta 3-2 in overtime, topped B.C. 6-2 and crushed Saskatchewan 11-2.

Shingoose led the event with 10 points, with Wheat Kings prospect Cruz Jim of Alberta a point behind with nine.
