DISTURBANCE AT HOSPITAL
The Brandon Police Service arrested a man after he was allegedly causing a disturbance at Brandon Regional Health Centre early Thursday morning.
The man was “snooping” through a construction area, and when the peace officer who was on location served him with a no-trespassing notice, he tore it up and refused to leave, BPS said in a news release Thursday.
Police said the man was also observed littering.
Officers went to BRHC and found the man near the emergency room.
Police arrested the 37-year-old man, who was medically cleared by a BPS detention unit paramedic.
He was held in detention cells “to prevent the continuation of his disruptive behaviour,” the release said.
The man was scheduled to be released later Thursday morning.
ASSAULT AND MISCHIEF
Brandon police arrested a man on Wednesday after a woman reported an incident with the father of her child.
The woman told police that the man made a gesture to hit her by raising his arm before he threw her phone on the ground and stomped on it at around 1:30 p.m., Brandon police said in a news release.
At around 5 p.m., the accused, 23, surrendered at the police station, where he was arrested and charged with assault and mischief under $5,000.
The man was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in January 2026.
TEEN FACES FIREARM CHARGES
St. Rose du Lac RCMP arrested a teen on Monday after receiving a call that male youth was walking around the community of O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi with a firearm early in the early hours of the morning.
In the teen’s home, police found a sawed-off shotgun in a bag along with ammunition at the rear of the residence, RCMP said in a news release. Officers arrested the suspect without incident.
Police allege the suspect also pointed the firearm at several youths in the community.
The teen, from O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi, which is also known as Crane River First Nation, was charged with numerous firearm offences. He was released with a future court date.
