Classes resume today following the fall break, and students will dig right in with the Long Night Against Procrastination on Wednesday at the John E. Robbins Library, from 7 p.m. until 2 a.m. The event will provide students with a free, safe place to study and write during a critical point in the semester, with snacks and study support provided.
Rory Lucyshyn-Wright of BU’s Department of Mathematics and Computer Science will be this week’s speaker in the Science Seminar Series. He will discuss category theory, axiomatics and abstraction in mathematics on Friday, beginning at 2:30 p.m., in Room 4-47 of the John R. Brodie Science Centre. The Bobcats basketball teams are back to host the Regina Cougars this weekend. The women play at 6 p.m. on Friday, followed by the men at 8 p.m. On Saturday, the women will tip off at 5 p.m., with the men following at 7 p.m.
The RD Bell Hall in the BU Music building will be the site of a Canada Music Week concert on Nov. 22, beginning at 3 p.m. Presented by the Brandon and Westman Registered Music Teachers’ Association, the concert will feature music students from across the region in a celebration of Canadian composers. Admission is by donation. Music will continue to fill the BU’s halls on Nov. 24 as Colin Mehmel on clarinet, Callie Sieverson on horn and Danielle Guina on piano perform Trio Improbable!, beginning at 7:30 p.m., in the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. There is no admission charge, and all are welcome. On Nov. 25, E-Gré National Music Competition winner Linda Ruan will return to complete her national tour with a piano performance at the Lorne Watson, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $20 for general admission, or free for BU and Conservatory of Music students.
Brandon University Theatre presents “Mother Courage and her Children,” a dark comedy with music, from Dec. 3 to 7. Show times are at 7 p.m., from Wednesday to Saturday evenings, and at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the Evans Theatre. More show and ticket information is available at BrandonU.ca/english/drama-program.

Treat yourself to a holiday feast Dec. 3 and 4! Join us for the second event of the year, one that says goodbye to flavourful fall and ushers in crisp winter. A hot and cold buffet dinner is complemented by a dessert room with mouth-watering, decadent confections. The food showcased at this event is grown and cultivated at Assiniboine’s North Hill campus as part of the college’s field-to-fork approach.
