A three-car collision on First Street North closed the road for roughly an hour Thursday afternoon and sent drivers to hospital with minor injuries.
Brandon police media spokesperson Janet Reichert said a traffic officer reported extensive damage to the vehicles, which were towed away from the scene around 2 p.m.
The crash was witnessed by Matt Ross, operations manager for Resurrection Auto Detailing, who had stepped outside of the business at the time.
Ross, who said he provided a statement to police, told the Sun that a vehicle was about to turn left across traffic when it was rear-ended, pushing it into oncoming traffic, and was struck again by an oncoming vehicle.
“I just heard a loud pop,” he said, “I ran over there … just checked to see if they were OK, before they got out of the vehicle.”
Ross said that two people who left in ambulances had walked around beforehand. A woman involved in the crash remained on scene when the Sun arrived, and said she felt fine under the circumstances.
The auto shop manager said he found a spring from the crash about 50 feet down the road. Staff in the auto shop said the sound was so loud that it shocked them to attention over the sound of active air compressors.
