• 40 YEARS AGO — Beth Evans and her Riverview Curling Club foursome of Jean Pickett, Joan Merko and Nancy Koscielny were unbeatable during the four-day women’s Brandon Interclub Bonspiel.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Peter Schaefer scored his first goal in nine games and added two more before the night was over to lead the Brandon Wheat Kings to a convincing 10-1 WHL triumph over the Saskatoon Blades. Mike Leclerc, Daniel Tetrault, Kelly Smart, Chris Dingman, Vinnie Jonasson, Wade Redden, and Darren Van Oene also tallied for the Wheat Kings.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Killarney’s Bryce Lamb was named to Team Western, a Manitoba-Saskatchewan combined force that competed in the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge in Regina.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Skyler Thorsteinson scored four minutes 35 seconds into the third period and Jeremy Link made 37 saves as the Neepawa Natives snapped their 12-game Manitoba Junior Hockey League losing streak against the Steelers. Justin Metcalf and Nathan Hillis both scored twice in the contest.
