• 4:30 p.m. — Brandon University’s Piano Ensemble Fall Term Finale, under the direction of Daniel Tselyakov, will take place at the Lorne Watson Recital Hall. Join our talented piano ensemble students as they present a dynamic program of works ranging from piano four-hands to two-piano, eight-hands repertoire. All are welcome. No admission charge.

• 5 p.m. — The glowing display of holiday lighting is now on at the Skating Oval immediately east of the Parks Complex at 2020 McGregor Ave. (also accessible via Hilton Avenue). The lights are on nightly from 5 to 11 p.m. throughout the winter season. No public vehicles are allowed in the direct area of the Waterfall of Lights display. Visitors are encouraged to park in the designated areas along McGregor Avenue or Hilton Avenue and enjoy the walk through this magical winter scene.
• 5:30 p.m., 6 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. — Assiniboine College is pleased to present its Holiday Buffet at the Manitoba Institute of Culinary Arts. Our Culinary Arts students showcase their creativity and skill by presenting an exquisite buffet dinner, complete with decadent desserts and confections. This is a special evening that allows members of the community to join together in remembering our loved ones who are no longer with us to celebrate the holidays. These stops will feature an outdoor concert right from the train’s stage featuring performances from Jade Eagleson and Teigen Gayse. • 1 p.m. — The annual Brandon Wildlife Association’s Wildlife Showcase and Scoring event (formerly Big Buck Awards) takes place in the UCT Pavilion at the Keystone Centre (enter by the curling rink doors). There are $1,000 in prizes to give away including our always popular card draws, free ladies draw, free youth draw, a special draw for over 130, our “big” draw and more. • Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (Unit 2, 710 Rosser Ave., Brandon) — Manitoba’s oldest centre for visual art and one of Canada’s first since 1907. The AGSM boasts two exhibition spaces, an art school and gift shop that supports more than 70 local Manitoba artists. In the Main Gallery is the 21st Annual Members’ Show and Sale on until Jan. 10. In the Kayes Community Gallery is “Healing For The Broken Hearted,” featuring art from inside Manitoba’s prisons, sponsored by the Manitoba Multifaith Council Justice and Corrections Committee, on display until Dec. 13. • Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum (CATPM) (Brandon Municipal Airport, Highway 10, 1.6 kilometres north of Brandon) — Canada’s only air museum solely dedicated to the preservation of those who trained and fought for the British Commonwealth during the Second World War. • Dec. 13-14 — The Brandon Wildlife Association’s 40th annual Brandon Gun and Collectibles Show takes place in the Manitoba Room at the Keystone Centre from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Dec. 13 and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Dec. 14. Admission is $10 (15 and under are free).

• Dec. 14 — Westman Naturalists’ annual Christmas Bird Count will take place in and around Brandon starting at 8 a.m. This is a chance to take part in a North America-wide count of birds during the winter season. Either by watching your feeder or getting out to search for birds within a circle around Brandon. Visit brandonnaturalists.ca/events and fill out a form if you are planning on participating.
• Dec. 14 — The Mecca Family Holiday Concert takes place at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium at 3 p.m. Ring in the holidays with the Mecca Family and their annual Holiday Concert. From toddlers to grandparents, more than 150 performers will raise their voices to celebrate the magic of the holiday season. • Dec. 17 — The 2025 Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra Holiday Tour is coming to the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium again this season. This year’s festive program bursts with the classics and also includes film favourites in a Christmas at the Movies medley and “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Juno-nominated duo Erin Propp and Larry Roy join the orchestra. Brandon University’s a cappella men’s ensemble, Invicta, adds rich vocal warmth. And special guest His Worship Mayor Jeff Fawcett will be narrating “’Twas the Night Before Christmas. • Dec. 19 — Jake Vaadeland and The Sturgeon River Boys: Good Gracious, It’s Christmas! Takes place at the Western Manitoba Centennial Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are available through the WMCA box office, at wmca.ca or by calling 204-728-9510.
• Dec. 21 — St. Augustine Church (327 Fourth St.) presents Nine Lessons and Carols at 2 p.m. Music by St. Augustine’s The Schola Cantorum, Tobe Ekeneme, director, accompanied by Rebecca Roozendaal with Children of the Schola “pop-up” choir; the Knights of Columbus Men’s Choir and special musical guests Thea Jiang, violin and Paul Roozendaal, percussion. Silver collection for purchase of music and choir expenses. Refreshments and treats served after.
