• 40 YEARS AGO — Grant Coulter scored 43 points to lead Sportsline Shooters to a 91-63 win over Shirt Shack in a Brandon Senior Men’s Basketball League game.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Mike Leclerc sniped three times, including a short-handed empty-net effort in the final minute of regulation, to lift the Wheat Kings to a 5-3 WHL victory over the Portland Winter Hawks.

• 20 YEARS AGO — Craig Simchuk scored two of Winnipeg’s four second-period goals as the Thrashers beat the Brandon Wheat Kings 6-1 Sunday in the Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League.

• 10 YEARS AGO — The Virden Oil Capitals skated to a 4-3 victory over the Winnipeg Blues in Manitoba Junior Hockey League play in Virden. Nolan Ross, Devan Schram, Kyle Bird and Dylan Thiessen scored for the Oil Capitals.
