CALGARY – Forward Marek Vanacker has been added to Team Canada’s camp ahead of the world junior hockey championship, Hockey Canada announced Friday.

The 19-year-old from Delhi, Ont., has 26 goals and 15 assists in 26 games with the Ontario Hockey League’s Brantford Bulldogs this season.

Vanacker was selected by Chicago in the first round, 27th overall, at the 2024 NHL draft.

Hockey Canada also said that Sharks forward Michael Misa is expected to join the team during training camp. He is currently in San Jose as he recovers from a lower-body injury and is listed as day-to-day.

Misa was left off Canada’s roster for the 2025 world championship in Ottawa. Canada finished a disappointing fifth at the tournament, while the 18-year-old from Oakville, Ont., was named the OHL’s outstanding player for 2024-25 before being selected second overall by the Sharks in the 2025 NHL draft.

Canada’s training camp begins Saturday in Niagara Falls, Ont. The Canadians open their 2026 word junior championship Dec. 26 against Czechia in Minneapolis.
