Robbery, assault with a bottle

While on scene, officers arrested a man in relation to a robbery and assault from Dec. 9.

A man reported that he went to a residence, and while inside, was assaulted by two other men, BPS said in a news release.

The accused hit the victim multiple times with a bottle before stealing some of his personal items, including clothing and a phone, BPS said.

The 38-year-old man was charged with assault with a weapon and robbery. He was held in custody for his scheduled court appearance.

Weapon charges

A man was arrested on Saturday after police allegedly saw him toss a weapon while fleeing from them.

Officers with the Brandon Police Service tried to arrest a man on the 800 block of Pacific Avenue at around 11 a.m., but the man “threw down a knife” and ran away, BPS said in a news release.

Police chased the man and saw him toss a sawed-off, double-barrelled shotgun, the release said.

BPS started a K9 track, which led them to a residence on the 900 block of Rosser Avenue.

Officers arrested a 36-year-old man and charged him with possessing a firearm while prohibited, resisting arrest, possessing a weapon for a dangerous purpose and carrying a concealed weapon.

He was held in custody for a court appearance on Sunday.
