• 40 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings fired coach Jack Sangster. Sangster, 38, coached the Wheat Kings for 2 1/2 seasons. Jim Foubister took over as GM.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Kurtis Quane scored 42 seconds into overtime to lift the Southwest Cougars to a 5-4 victory over the Central Plains Capitals in a Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League game.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Andrew Fisher’s third-period goal was the game-winner as the Neepawa Natives got by the OCN Blizzard 4-3 in the Manitoba Junior Hockey League. Lindsay Gullett, Shane Jury and Michael Proudley also scored for the Natives.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Thomas Lenchyshyn’s second period tally lifted the Dauphin Kings to a 2-1 win over the Virden Oil Capitals in Manitoba Junior Hockey League action in Dauphin.
