CONCEALED WEAPON

The Brandon Police Service arrested a man on Tuesday after he allegedly tried to use drugs as payment at a business.

Staff from the business on the 1100 block of 18th Street reported to police at around 11:40 a.m. that a man offered drugs as payment instead of money.

Officers arrested a 19-year-old man and found a “large sum” of money, a small quantity of drugs and a can of bear spray on him, BPS said in a news release on Wednesday.

Police charged the man with possessing a weapon and carrying a concealed weapon. BPS said an investigation regarding the drugs is ongoing.

The man was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court in March 2026.

ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE

A teenager in Brandon was charged with robbery with violence after she allegedly assaulted employees at a business on Christmas Eve, police said.

Brandon police were called to Dollar Tree on Victoria Avenue for a report of a 17-year-old girl grabbing employees and attempting to steal merchandise around 1 p.m., Sgt. Kirby Sararas told the Sun.

The girl was arrested at the scene and released on the promise to appear in court at a later date, Sararas said on Thursday.

None of the employees were taken to hospital and they did not have any serious injuries, she said.

Sararas could not confirm whether the teenager was known to police.

RESIDENTIAL BREAK-IN

The Brandon Police Service is investigating a report of a break-in that happened overnight on Christmas Eve.

Police received a report of the break and enter at a residence on the 1200 block of 12th Street on Thursday.

A laptop, a cheque and alcohol were stolen, BPS said in a news release.

Police said no suspects have been identified, and the matter remains under investigation.
