A 55-year-old man died as a result of a workplace incident at construction site east of a Hamiota on Wednesday, Mounties say.

Yellowhead RCMP, emergency medical services and local firefighters responded to the construction site just after 1 p.m. after receiving a report that a man driving a skid steer accidentally backed into a deep hole that had been dug, RCMP said in a news release Thursday.

The man’s death was confirmed at the scene, RCMP said.
