The matter remains under investigation.

Arrest in vehicle theft

The Brandon Police Service arrested a man after recovering a vehicle that had been reported stolen.

Officers recovered a 2016 Ford F150 on Saturday evening and arrested a man for being in possession of property obtained by crime, BPS said in a news release.

Police also found that the man was wanted on a warrant for possessing property obtained by crime.

The man was held at BPS until his court appearance.

Domestic assault

A man who allegedly assaulted his partner was arrested on Sunday.

Officers with the Brandon Police Service responded to a report of domestic violence at a residence on the 600 block of 16th Street.

A 31-year-old woman reported that she was assaulted and punched in the face, police said.

Police noted there was also damage to one of the home’s windows.

The suspect was already gone when police got to the residence, but police later found him at his home on McTavish Avenue, BPS said.

Officers arrested the 20-year-old man and charged him with assault, mischief to property and breach of a probation order as he was on a no-contact order with the woman.

The man was held in custody and scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
