A joint concert will bring roughly 110 vocalists together to sing at the First Presbyterian Church in Brandon on Saturday.
The concert is set to combine the Horizon Choir of Winnipeg and the Konektis Choir of Brandon for shared performances in addition to individual performances, a Konektis director, Michelle Chyzyk, told the Sun in a recent interview. The theme is Holding Hands, as the group will perform a song of that title by The Magic Lantern.
“We hope to pack the place and give them a warm Westman welcome,” Chyzyk said. “We are very excited to host musicians of the calibre of Horizon choir. We know the choirs will inspire each other.”
The show begins at 7:30 p.m.
The tickets, $20 for adults and $10 for students, are on sale online or via cash at the door.
The conductors for the Konektis choir are Marla Fontaine, Clint McLaclan and Michelle Chyzyk. The accompanist is Justine Burke. For the Horizon choir, the co-artistic directors are Leanne Cooper-Carrier and Katy Abraham.
Konektis is also scheduled for two later performances: Apr. 18, at 1:30 p.m. at the Winchester Theatre in Deloraine; and at 7:30 p.m. at the Auditorium Theatre in Virden. It will return to the Brandon First Presbyterian Church on,Apr. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
The Brandon-based choir will travel to Victoria, B.C. in May to perform in the Canadian National Conductor’s Conference.
