Payton McNish posted 12 kills and only three errors as the Assiniboine College Cougars clinched the No. 1 seed for the Manitoba Colleges Athletic Conference women’s volleyball playoffs on Saturday
Kylee Peake added a team-high 14 kills and seven errors in AC’s 3-1 (18-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-19) victory over the Providence Pilots.
AC (11-5) visits CMU this Friday and hosts St. Boniface on Saturday to close the regular season.
The other three teams are all 7-9, competing for the last two playoff spots and home-court advantage for the single-elimination semifinal.
The AC men (9-7) suffered a weekend sweep, going down 3-2 (16-25, 25-22, 15-25, 25-21, 15-12) to Providence (11-5).
Nathaniel Berube led Assiniboine with 20 kills and nine errors.
CMU (10-6) swept USB (2-14) on the weekend, moving into second.
The men’s playoff teams are determined, but none of the seeds are clinched.
