The Brandon University Bobcats are headed to Regina for their first Canada West women’s basketball playoff game since 2022.
BU (7-13) lost 93-77 to Manitoba (8-12) on Saturday, having clinched its spot already thanks to a Lethbridge (5-15) loss to Alberta (15-5) on Friday.
Ella Averill led Brandon with 29 points, while Macaya Copeland added 17.
The Bobcats enter the playoffs as the No. 12 seed, and will face the UBC Okanagan Heat (10-10) this weekend. The winner plays the host Regina Cougars (17-3) for a trip to the final four.
The No. 12-seeded Bobcat men lost both games at Manitoba, and will face the Bisons (13-7) again in the first round at UBC (15-5).
Brandon rested a handful of players for Saturday’s 87-65 loss, as Darko Karac and Youri Cange dropped 15 points each for the Bobcats.
