• 40 YEARS AGO — Terrilyn Hurl scored the only goal and Shelly Hartel was flawless in goal as Brandon Club defeated Shilo 1-0 in a Brandon Women’s Broomball League game.

• 30 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings, despite missing eight regulars and losing right-winger Vinnie Jonasson to a first period shoulder injury, still managed a 4-2 WHL triumph over the Calgary Hitmen. Andrei Lupandin, Mike Leclerc, Jeff Temple and Ryan Robson all scored.

20 YEARS AGO — The Brandon University men’s volleyball team made its last appearance of the 2005-06 season a winning one on Saturday night. The Bobcats, 24 hours after being defeated in five sets by the Regina Cougars, rebounded with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 27-25) victory over Regina in Canada West action at the BU gymnasium.

10 YEARS AGOScott Ramsay will get another shot at Reid Carruthers. The Brandonite, who curls out of the Thistle Curling Club in Winnipeg, scored a 6-5 victory over Jared Kolomaya in an A-side draw Thursday afternoon at the Viterra Championship.
