Liam Pauls recorded a match-high 18 kills but the Brandon University Bobcats fell 3-2 (25-23, 22-25, 25-21, 24-26, 16-14) in Canada West men’s volleyball action against the host Winnipeg Wesmen on Friday.
Tom Friesen posted 15 kills, with Liam Kindle adding 14 for Brandon (7-12), which can no longer host a playoff series.
Luke Lodewyks posted 17 kills for Winnipeg (10-9) to push the Wesmen up to sixth place as Mount Royal (9-9) was still on the court against Trinity Western (15-3) at press time.
In the women’s match, Winnipeg (7-12) clinched a playoff spot with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-21, 25-18) sweep.
Brynn Wildeboer led Brandon (3-16) with 11 kills, while Brooke Duncalfe had a match-high 17 for Winnipeg.
The teams meet again today to round out the regular season.
