• 40 YEARS AGO — Kelly Bessette was unbeatable in net as the Keystone Motor Inn Outlaws defeated host Shilo 3-0 in the final regular-season game of the Shilo and District Men’s Broomball League.

• 30 YEARS AGO — Darryl Albrecht and Paul Mandziuk sniped twice each to lift the Boissevain Border Kings to a 7-5 triumph over the Deloraine Royals in South West Hockey League playoff action. Paul Pelda and Dave Challner also scored for Boissevain, which got a 17-save performance from goaltender Bill McLeod

• 20 YEARS AGO — Ted Fleury’s goal in the second overtime period gave the Foxwarren Falcons a 4-3 win over the Lac du Bonnet Blues and the provincial senior A hockey championship. Fleury scored two goals for the Falcons, who beat the Blues 2-1 in the best-of-three final. David Reagh and Derek Tibbatts also scored for Foxwarren.

• 10 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings scored four times in the final six minutes after letting an early lead slip away to beat the Moose Jaw Warriors 6-3 at Westman Place. Reid Duke had two goals, Jayce Hawryluk had a goal and two assists and Nolan Patrick, Stelio Mattheos and Duncan Campbell all had a goal and an assist in the victory.
