The Dauphin Clippers and Roblin/Grandview/Gilbert Plains Raiders both grabbed important victories in their respective best-of-three Westman High School Hockey League quarterfinals matchups on Tuesday evening.

A four-goal performance from Hayden Shtykalo and an 18-save shutout from Ben Miner propelled the Clippers to a roaring 10-0 victory to give them a 1-0 series lead over the Wildcats. Ethan Zalischuk also notched a pair of goals for Dauphin, while Josh Beyette, Henry Roth, Cody Zurba, and Brandon Wood all added singles.

The Clippers will have a chance to close out their series tonight in Glenboro for Game 2.

The Raiders beat the Swan Valley Tigers 4-3 in extra time thanks to forward Cash Kitzul, who buried his second of the game on Tigers netminder Scott Tibbett with 12 seconds remaining in overtime.

Defenceman Zach Rolland also tallied a pair of goals for the Raiders, while goaltender Cohan Odowichuk made 58 stops in the win. Cole Fletcher scored twice and Payton Thompson also put up one for Swan Valley.

The two teams will gear up for a do-or-die contest on Sunday in Swan River.
