DUNEDIN – Addison Barger hit a solo shot and added a two-run single to power the Toronto Blue Jays to a 5-0 win over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday in a split-squad game at TD Ballpark.
Barger opened the scoring in the second inning with his second homer of the spring. He drove in George Springer and Nathan Lukes to make it 3-0 in the third.
Blue Jays starter Kevin Gausman allowed three hits over 3 1/3 innings. He had three strikeouts.
In the other split-squad game, Toronto shut out the Baltimore Orioles 1-0.
Jesus Sanchez drove in Arjun Nimmala in the third inning for the game’s lone run.
Starter Cody Ponce threw three hitless innings for the Blue Jays.
