The Manitoba Winter Games in Thompson ended Saturday, with Team West finishing third of the six teams with 19 gold, 22 silver and 37 bronze for 78 medals.

• BADMINTON — In the team U15 mix, West fell 5-0 to North in the bronze-medal match, and in the team U17 mix, West fell 4-1 to North in the third-place match.

• CROSS COUNTRY SKIING — In the free technique U12 female final, Nellie Guenther of Boissevain was fourth in 16:56.6 and Abigail Barkman of Boissevain was fifth in 19:19.6.

In the free technique U14 female final, Joanna Barkman of Boissevain took silver in 21:01.1.

In the free technique U14 male final, Team West’s Eric White of Lorette was sixth in 20:47.4.

In the free technique U16 male final, Caleb Barkman of Boissevain was seventh in 33:06.0.

• CURLING — In the mixed doubles U18 third-place game, West-2 (the Carberry duo of Taeven McCutchin and Abbey Snowden) won bronze after earning a 7-6 decision over Winnipeg Blue-1. They scored four in the seventh end of the eight-end game to achieve the feat.

• HOCKEY — In the U14 female division consolation playoffs, West-1 finished with an 8-1 victory over North while West-2 fell 6-0 to South-1.

West-1 received two goals from Lexi Emily Braun of Swan River, Ellena Hermenegildo of Brandon and Drew Hickman of Brandon, with Natalie Houle of Dauphin and Emery Derlago of Brandon adding singles.

Winnipeg Gold beat Winnipeg Blue 5-1 to earn gold.

• SPEED SKATING — In the 1,500m U14 female final, Zoe Forbes of Brandon earned bronze in 2:57.966, with Sophia Forbes of Brandon finishing fourth in 3:08.554. Anvi Patel of Brandon was fifth in the consolation final in 4:27.892.

In the 1,500m U14 male final, Hayden Pulleyblank of Brandon finished third in 3:11.102. Alexander Fouillard of Shilo was fifth in the consolation final in 4:07.184.

In the 1,500m U18 female final, Madelyn Nairn of Brandon earned silver in 3:22.562.

In the 1,500m U18 male final, Team West’s Alex Yaschyshyn of Winnipeg earned bronze in 2:47.812.

In the 2,000-m U15 female super final, Zoe Forbes took silver in 4:13.471 and Sophia Forbes grabbed bronze in 4:20.152.

In the 2,000-m U15 male super final, Pulleyblank took bronze in 3:56.559.

In the 3,000-m U18 female super final, Nairn took silver in 6:49.290.

In the 3,000-m U18 male super final, Yaschyshyn was fourth in 6:17.745.

In the overall U14 female division, Zoe Forbes earned bronze with 2,814 points, Sophia Forbes was fourth with 2,295 points and Patel was 10th with 480 points.

In the overall U14 male division, Pulleyblank was fourth with 2,137 points, Fouillard was 13th with 332 points and Titus Pinette of Brandon was 14th with 140 points.

In the overall U18 female division, Nairn finished third with 2,964 points.

In the overall U18 male division, Yaschyshyn was fourth with 2,295 points. South and Winnipeg Gold tied with 86 medals overall, but South (32 gold, 27 silver, 27 bronze) took the top spot over Blue (26 gold, 32 silver, 28 bronze).
