CAA Manitoba is opening its annual Worst Roads campaign today.

Manitobans can nominate any road across the province for a variety of issues, including potholes, congestion, traffic-light timing, poor signage, poor road markings or pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, the not-for-profit organization said in a press release.

“The Worst Roads campaign is a proven platform that gives Manitobans a voice and helps governments identify the roads causing the most frustration,” said Ewald Friesen, CAA Manitoba’s manager of government and community relations.

“We know it works because we see governments prioritize budgets and move up road repairs every year after appearing on the list,” Friesen said.

Nominations are open until April 10. People can nominate roads online at caaworstroads.com.

CAA Manitoba will later release a list of the top 10 worst roads, along with regional lists.

“Most of the roads people flag as priorities are the same routes our supply chain depends on — they’re how goods get in, out and across the province,” Friesen said.

In the release, CAA said that 92 per cent of Manitobans are concerned about the province’s roads, adding that people are spending more to repair vehicle damage than in previous years.

Last year, four roads in Westman made the top 10. Highway 34 finished first, Provincial Road 349 came in fifth, 26th Street in Brandon came in sixth and Richmond Avenue in Brandon finished ninth.
