Police received a report that a missing O-Chi-Chak-Ko-Sipi First Nation woman was found dead on Thursday.

Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP received a report on Wednesday of a missing 21-year-old, who had last been seen at a residence in the community on Monday.

Mounties, First Nation Safety Officers and community members searched nearby trails and did checks in the community to find information leading to the missing woman’s whereabouts, RCMP said in a news release.

Just before 9 a.m. on Thursday, RCMP received a report that the missing woman had been found deceased near Provincial Road 481, police said.

Mounties said the cause of death remains under investigation as they wait for autopsy results.

Ste. Rose du Lac RCMP and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner continue to investigate.
