Steeped in Clay, a Bachelor of Fine Arts thesis exhibition by Lee Beaton, will open this week in the Glen P. Sutherland Gallery of Art. The opening reception for the ceramics exhibition will take place on Thursday at 7 p.m. The exhibition will be on display from this Thursday until April 4. Gallery hours are from 2 to 6 p.m., most days, and from 2 to 8 p.m., on April 2. The Sutherland Gallery is closed on Sundays, Mondays and holidays. Admission is free.

The Brandon University Chorale and Concert Choir ensembles present Healing Songs, in support of the Mood Disorders Association of Manitoba on Friday at 7:30 p.m., at Knox United Church. The evening will feature an evening of choral music and healing songs from Indigenous western and gospel traditions. Poetry, spoken words and visual art will complement the evening. A silver collection will support MDAM programming.

The Brandon University Orchestra will perform music by Fauré, Menotti, Mozart, Respighi, Beethoven and Dvořák in a concert on Saturday evening at 7:30 at Knox United Church. The concert will feature soloists Amy Brown, on violin, and soprano Daelyn Fefchak. Tickets will be available at the door and will cost $15 for adults, or $5 for ages 13 to 18. There is no charge for children 12-and-under, or for BU and Conservatory of Music students.

Several individual School of Music student recitals are taking place in the coming weeks. Visit Music.BrandonU.ca for a full schedule of performances.

The Mental Health on the Prairies conference will take place from April 29 to May 1 at BU. This year’s keynote speakers will be Russell Purdy of Beccarian Correctional Care, Dr. Caroline Tait of the University of Calgary and independent filmmaker Rebeccah Love.

Registration is open for Mini University. Weekly programming for students from kindergarten through Grade 8 will take place from July 3 to Aug. 28. Visit MiniU.BrandonU.ca for details and registration.
