• 40 YEARS AGO — The host Elkhorn Canadians wrapped up the MAHA Intermediate B title with a 7-4 win over Souris Elks. Alec MacGranachan, Scott Medd and Brian Peel each scored twice for the Canadians.
• 30 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings eliminated the Saskatoon Blades from the post-season after they swept the best-of-seven East-Central quarter-final series with a 5-3 victory. Scoring for the Wheat Kings were Kelly Smart with two goals and Chris Dingman, Ryan Robson and Peter Schaefer with singles.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Joey Moggach of the Dauphin Kings was named the Manitoba Junior Hockey League’s Old Dutch Player of the Week. The 20-year-old Brandonite had two goals and five assists in four games for the Kings in their Sher-Wood Division final with the OCN Blizzard.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Elkhorn products Brad Bowles and Brett Orr both had a goal and an assist as the Portage Terriers grabbed a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven Manitoba Junior Hockey League semifinal. Bowles opened the scoring in the first period and then set up Orr’s power-play marker 13 minutes later. Orr assisted on Chase Brakel’s second-period tally as the Terriers earned a 4-0 victory in Game 2 in Winnipeg.
