• 60 YEARS AGO — The high bowlers in the Brandon Five-Pin Association’s 21st annual five-pin tournament are Bill Shadlock in the A singles with 904 and Eleanor Cochrane in the ladies’ B singles with 664, both of Brandon.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Trevor Peters of Brandon won the gold medal in the Bantam boys’ division of the national Youth Bowling Council which wound up at the Thunderbird Bowl this weekend. Trevor’s sister Debbie Peters finished with the bronze in the girls’ division.
• 30 YEARS AGO — Derek Tibbatts scored three goals, while Shawn Tibbatts sniped twice to lead the Foxwarren Falcons to a 10-3 thrashing of the Boissevain Border Kings in South West Hockey League playoff action.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Brandon’s Terry McNamee clinched a playoff spot at the provincial mixed curling championship at the Portage Curling Club. The two-time champion led his team to a 9-3 victory over Wheat City clubmate Allan Lyburn to improve to 5-1 in the round-robin.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Mackenna Parker scored 1:13 into the third period to lift the Saskatoon Stars to a 2-1 victory over the Yellowhead Chiefs in Game 1 of their best-of-three Esso Cup west regional series in Shoal Lake.
