DRUG, WEAPON CHARGES

The Brandon Police Service arrested three males for possession of a controlled substance on Saturday evening during a traffic stop in the 2100 block of Victoria Avenue.

Police observed a white powdery substance in the driver’s door, and located 13 suspected pills of MDMA on the driver, as well as a few grams of cocaine on the rear seat passenger during the search of the accused.

The front passenger was found in possession of a replica Glock pistol and plastic “brass” knuckles. All three males were later released with conditions to attend court in June.

FIREARMS CHARGES

The Police arrested a 25-year-old woman and a 27-year-old man for a number of offences, including unauthorized possession of a firearm and storage of a firearm contrary to regulations, after midnight on Saturday.

They were arrested when the Police attended a Riverheights Drive home for an unrelated matter and observed a long gun lying on the bed, and three others on the floor in the residence.

They were both held in the police cells to appear in court later in the morning.

COMMERCIAL BREAK AND ENTERS

The Police arrested a 40-year-old man suspect for break and enters to businesses in Brandon over the weekend.

The police were alerted to three break-ins, committed between 11 p.m. on Saturday and 3 a.m. on Sunday.

The first was in the 2900 block of Victoria Avenue, where the suspect rummaged through multiple offices, while the second was at a business in the 1300 block of 18th Street. The third was to a convenience store in the 1500 block of Richmond Avenue, where the front glass was smashed and the suspect made off with cigarettes and lottery tickets.

The suspect was identified using video surveillance footage from the first and second break-ins, police said. Police used a drone and police dog to find the suspect, who was held in police station cells for court and remanded to appear again today.
