• 60 YEARS AGO — Division A in the ANAF five-pin bowling league rolloffs was captured by the Rockets with 4,151 points. The winning team was John Pelchar, Bunny Nackoney, Emile Neault, Bruce Nackoney and Doreen Diment.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Brian Owens skipped his rink to the top of the president’s event at the Royal Canadian Legion bonspiel in Carberry. Owens swept aside a rink skipped by Owen Murray.
• 40 YEARS AGO — Laurie Hutlet, Stephanine Zegarac, Laura Perry, Lana Drake, Denny Guyda and Annick St. Pierre of the Brandon Eagles Gymnastics Club qualified for the provincial championships by placing in the top 10 in their divisions at a meet in Portage.
• 30 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings banged out a 6-3 victory over the Prince Albert Raiders in front of 5,321 fans at the Keystone Centre. Scoring for the Wheaties were Chris Dingman with three, Bobby Brown with two and Vinnie Jonasson with a single.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Cheryl Kryluk has coached her last Brandon Bobcats women’s basketball game. After two tumultuous seasons and an 0-40 conference record, Kryluk has decided to leave Brandon University to return to her teaching career in Calgary.
• 10 YEARS AGO — A trio of Westman products will be attending the Canadian women’s hockey program strength and conditioning camp from May 4 to 8 in Hamilton, Ont. Halli Krzyzaniak of Neepawa and Ashleigh Brykaliuk of Brandon will attend the senior women’s hockey program strength and conditioning camp for Team Canada, while Deloraine’s Ashton Bell, a 16-year-old Westman Wildcat forward will head to the under-18 national team camp.
