• 40 YEARS AGO — Laurie Hutlet, Stephanine Zegarac, Laura Perry, Lana Drake, Denny Guyda and Annick St. Pierre of the Brandon Eagles Gymnastics Club qualified for the provincial championships by placing in the top 10 in their divisions at a meet in Portage.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Brandon’s Brendan Kowalchuk picked up his first win at the Canadian junior racquetball nationals in Kelowna, B.C. The 17-year-old beat Mark Nelson 15-12, 15-8 in a boys’ 18-and-under consolation match. He returns to the court today against Ryan Bateman to complete his round robin.
