• 60 YEARS AGO — David Livingstone girls recently captured the city Grade 6 netball championship. Members of the winning squad are: Marilyn Buyterdorp, Della Swain, Clarice Prawdzik, Joanne Sadowski, Judy Sinclair, Christine Daciuk, Donna Leronowich and Gayle Gordon.
• 50 YEARS AGO — Neil Andrews was returned as president of the Brandon Curling Club for the coming season, but the highlight of the annual meeting was the presentation to past president Gerry Greaves of the BCC’s Honour Award.
• 40 YEARS AGO — The World Cup city round was held this weekend with two women and three men qualifying for 10-pin bowling provincials. Leading the women was Agnus Hodge followed by Patti Harris. Trevor Peters took first for the men with Tom Busch second and Andy Gobell third.
• 30 YEARS AGO — The DK’s Bowler of the Year Tournament was held the previous week with Shane Bates emerging as the top male with a +102. Lorraine Oleschuk bowled fantastically to take the female honours with a +104.
• 20 YEARS AGO — Theresa Mahood of Brandon won a gold medal at a judo tournament at Portage on the weekend. Mahood, 12, won the novice under-40 kilograms division. Audrianna Pollard, 12, took silver in the novice over-55 division, and nine-year-old Thomas Pollard got a bronze in the under-35kg division.
• 10 YEARS AGO — Will Adams singled, stole a pair of bases, scored twice and drove in a run to lead the Neelin Spartans to an 8-2 win over the Killarney Raiders to open the Prairie West High School Baseball season at Andrews Field.
