GIRL BEATEN, ROBBED

Brandon police arrested two girls after they allegedly kicked, punched and robbed another youth at Shoppers Mall on Monday.

The Brandon Police Service received a report at around 8:12 p.m. from a witness who said several girls had “jumped” and assaulted another girl outside of Shoppers Mall on the 1500 block of 18th Street.

Police determined the 15-year-old victim had been lured to the mall under the pretense of meeting the other girls to “hang out,” the Brandon Police Service said in a news release.

When she arrived, multiple people kicked and punched the girl before stealing her shoes, police said.

Police identified two suspects — a 14-year-old girl and a 16-year-old girl, the release said.

Officers found and arrested the two youths. They were each charged with robbery with violence in connection with the altercation.

They were released to a parent on undertakings and are scheduled to appear in court in July.

Emergency medical services came to the scene and transported the victim to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

ASSAULT WITH A WEAPON

Police arrested a man and woman who allegedly assaulted each other early Tuesday morning.

Officers with the Brandon Police Service were sent to a residence on Alaska Bay after receiving a report of a “physical altercation” between two people shortly after midnight.

Police determined that a man and woman had assaulted each other, BPS said in a news release.

During the altercation, the woman struck the man with a PlayStation 5, and both individuals sustained lacerations on the back of their heads, police said.

Officers arrested a 27-year-old woman and a 28-year-old man. The woman was charged with assault with a weapon, while the man was charged with assault.

Police said the man would be released on an undertaking once sober, and the woman was held in custody and scheduled to appear in court on Tuesday.
