A man could be facing a six-year prison sentence after pleading guilty to possessing cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
Myron Tanner, 34, pleaded guilty to the drug charge in front of Brandon’s Court of King’s Bench Justice Scott Abel on Tuesday.
Defence lawyer Barry Sinder said he and Crown attorney Serena Ehrmantraut plan to jointly recommend a sentence of six years. Tanner remains in custody and is scheduled for sentencing on June 16, following the completion of a court-ordered pre-sentence report.

Ehrmantraut briefly outlined the circumstances of the offence.
On June 17, 2024, officers with the Brandon Police Service saw a red Chevrolet Silverado with a burnt-out tail light at around 2 a.m. The driver also failed to signal while making a left turn.
Police stopped the vehicle and identified Tanner as the driver and lone occupant.
During the stop, officers noticed unstamped tobacco in the vehicle and arrested Tanner, the Crown said.
In a subsequent search, police found roughly 17 ounces of cocaine, 75 Percocet pills, two cartons of unstamped tobacco, around an ounce of crack cocaine and Tanner’s identification in a backpack, Ehrmantraut said.
Additionally, police found $2,700 in the truck, she said.
“We do have an agreement that this is within the realm of mid-level trafficking,” Ehrmantraut said.
