• 40 YEARS AGO — Brandon Club United rolled to a 3-0 Brandon Senior Men’s Soccer League victory over the Brandon University Bobcats at Green Acres pitch. Jeff Mortensen, Bernie Everett and Callum Scott scored for the winners.
• 30 YEARS AGO — The Brandon Wheat Kings returned to the top of the WHL heap after a 17-year absence with a 3-0 triumph to take the best-of-seven series 4-1 and gain a berth in the Memorial Cup. Jody Lehman was perfect in goal while Vinnie Jonasson, Wade Redden and Mike Leclerc scored for the winners.
• 10 YEARS AGO — George Rooke touched the ball down once and booted four conversions for the Crocus Plainsmen in their 43-0 Westman High School Rugby win over the visiting Souris Sabres.
