A Neepawa man has pleaded guilty to sexually assaulting his adult niece in 2024.
The 63-year-old man pleaded guilty to a single count of sexual assault in front of Justice Sandra Zinchuk in Brandon’s Court of King’s Bench on Monday.
The Sun is not naming the accused, as it could identify the victim.

Crown attorney Reid Girard read an agreed statement of facts in court.
On the afternoon of Dec. 22, 2024, the man and his biological niece, who was 47 years old at the time, met at a coffee shop in Neepawa.
They spent about an hour there before the man asked the victim to come back to his apartment, which she agreed to.
The two had been talking for about half an hour at the apartment when the victim stood up to leave.
“When she did, (the accused) grabbed (the victim’s) arm with his hands and pulled her over to him. He pulled her onto his lap,” Girard said.
The woman asked the accused to let go of her, but he didn’t. He proceeded to put his hand up her shirt and underneath her bra, squeezing her breast several times, Girard said.
“During this, (she) was trying to get up. She was trying to push away from him, but she was unsuccessful,” the Crown said.
The man pulled the victim’s shirt up, moved her bra out of the way, and put his mouth on her breast, Girard said. He sucked on her nipple for roughly a minute, he said.
“(She) continued to tell (him) no. She repeated that word multiple times during all of the physical contact,” Girard said.
The man eventually stopped, and the victim was then able to get up and leave the apartment.
On Jan. 9, 2025, the victim gave a statement to police, detailing the assault. That same day, police arrested the accused and subsequently released him on an undertaking.
Sentencing will take place at a later date, following the completion of a court-ordered pre-sentence report.
