Missing girl found

The Brandon Police Service thanked the public for its help in a successful search for a missing seven-year-old girl on Monday evening.

A woman reported to BPS that her daughter, who is non-verbal and autistic, was missing at around 6:19 p.m.

The child had been playing in the yard with her siblings and didn’t go back inside with them, BPS said in a news release.

Police, along with family, friends and community members, searched for the girl, and she was found safe about an hour later, BPS said.

The girl had walked roughly eight blocks to a store, where a family friend found her looking at children’s books, police said.

“BPS would like to sincerely thank the community for their immediate concern and assistance in sharing information and helping with the search,” the release said.

Structure fire

Police responded to a structure fire on the 300 block of Victoria Avenue at around 11:12 p.m. to help Brandon Fire and Emergency Services.

The fire was not considered suspicious and was believed to have started in a greenhouse before spreading to an adjacent deck, the Brandon Police Service said in a news release.

BFES contained and extinguished the fire, police said.

BPS said no injuries were reported.

Criminal harassment

A woman who has allegedly been harassing her former partner for almost a year was arrested Monday.

The woman repeatedly harassed her ex-partner between August 2025 and May of this year, the Brandon Police Service said in a news release Tuesday.

Police said she was also in breach of her peace bond by being in contact with her former partner.

BPS officers found and arrested the 49-year-old woman on Monday. Police charged her with breaching her peace bond and two counts of criminal harassment.

She was held in custody overnight. In court on Tuesday, the Crown consented to the woman’s release.

BPS also issued the woman a cease-and-desist letter, directing her to stop contacting police for non-emergencies, “as she has frequently and routinely tied up police resources with non-urgent issues,” BPS said.
