A 16-year-old boy faces extortion and child sexual abuse material-related charges after sharing an intimate photo of an underage girl, Brandon police say.
The Brandon Police Service received a report on Jan. 19 that the girl had sent intimate images of herself to a male youth.
The youth then started extorting the girl, requesting that she send more photos or else he would release the photo she had previously sent him, BPS said in a news release on Thursday.
Police said the 16-year-old boy proceeded to share the photo, and police arrested him.
He is charged with extortion, along with possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material.
